The Institute

The Institute for Beam Physics and Technology (IBPT, in German: Institut für Beschleunigerphysik und Technologie) was founded on January 1st in 2016.

The IBPT at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) operates the accelerator facilities KARA (Karlsruhe Research Accelerator) as accelerator test facility and KIT Light Source and the short-pulse linear accelerator FLUTE (Far Infrared Linac and Test Experiment) as source of intense, ultra-short electron and terahertz radiation pulses.
